Privacy on the Web

Today I came accross a very interesting article on something called scumware - have a look at their site at http://www.scumware.com. Scumware are programs that you downlaod or are downloaded for you to do things like hold password and profile information. they then overwrite advertising on the site with ehat they want you to see - even if it is not their site. For a long time I have been using the password program Gator from http://www.gator.com without actually knowing that Gator has one of the worst privacy policies in existence and overwrites advertising on other people's sites causing them lost revenue and if unchecked also tracks all the pages you visit and allows some nameless marketer to know exactly what you do. I for one don't want someone to track my computer use and so I have instead loaded the freeware program RoboForm at http://www.roboform.com.
If you have gator get rid of it straight away usingt he information on the Scumware site and install RoboForm instead. To find out more information about privacy see my column on Privacy and staying anonymous online.
